The cat gang is on the prowl.
In the spirit of providing modern and functional cat products, today we’ve launched our newest line of modern feeders. Aimed at reducing mess and improving your feline’s dining experience our elevated feeders and the Cat Bowl Tray are revolutionizing the way your cat dines.
When designing these products we wanted to make sure they lived up to the highest of standards, so we’ve constructed them out of the highest quality materials and components. As with all of our products we’ve created them with the modern home in mind, and believe they will make an excellent addition to any home or apartment.
“We’ve been working on the design of this product for a long time, and really believe they will change the way people think about how their pet bowls should work,” says Ian Schoen, President of Modern Cat Designs. “Most people don’t put a lot of thought into what their pet eats out of, but now we’re giving them a reason to pay attention.”

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the concept of a “catio”, essentially it is an enclosed outdoor space that is specifically designed for cats. The concept of a catio has been getting more and more popular in recent months and there was even a New York Times article about the movement.
So why would we be telling you about the latest in Catio design? Because Kate Benjamin, the founder of leading cat site moderncat.net has recently finished designing her personal Catio. She’s been featuring other designs on her other site Catio Showcase, but it wasn’t until now that she has decided to show the world her cat’s personal paradise.
As you can see, among other things the Tall Modern Cat Condo is featured in her catio! This is a representation of the high quality product that we offer here at Modern Cat Designs, and it is great to see someone use it in such a unique fashion.
Check out either of Kate’s sites for more information on how to create your own Catio, and give us a call at 888.408.9515 to help with the furnishings!
If you visit any local pet shop you’re sure to find catnip. There are toys filled with catnip, bags of ground up catnip and even catnip spray. So what exactly is catnip?
Nepeta cataria, or catnip, is a perennial herb that belongs to the mint family Labiatae. It is a weed-like mint plant that is common in North America and Canada. Cats have a special receptor for Nepetalactone, the active ingredient in catnip. Cats are extremely sensitive to catnip, and can smell one part in a billion! This ingredient has a unique and often dramatic effect on cats that can cause a variety of behaviors, including: rolling, rubbing, drooling, licking, jumping, running, growling.
This induced reaction lasts from five to fifteen minutes before wearing off and cannot be evoked again for an hour or longer after exposure. The response to catnip seems to be genetic. Young kittens and senior cats tend to not respond to catnip, as well as about 30% of the cat population at any age.
Catnip is completely safe and isn’t addictive for cats, so go ahead and give your cat a treat once in a while! You can give your cat a small palm full of ground catnip or you can give your cat a catnip toy. Catnip is also a great way to help your cat to feel comfortable relaxing on his or her new furniture. Fresh catnip is recommended for the best results.
